THE RETREAT AGENDA

YOGA

With Toby Gillingham...

Toby is a yoga, meditation and martial arts teacher, an acrobat and the founder and creator of Mana & Wak.  He dedicates his life to his craft, creating his own style of practice to share with others.  He's also a really friendly human who loves getting into deep and engaging conversations.

Yoga Fundamentals

This style of Yoga has been devised by Toby himself. He describes it as, "The greatest hits of Ashtanga, Hatha, power yoga and a vinyasa flow.  A workshop that will be approachable to those of you with little yoga experience, but still applicable to those with a lot.  Vinyasa/movement based sequencing that works all areas of the body with variations to suit everyone practicing."

Toby's journey into the physical

"I was always active. I think even as a child I knew the importance of movement and freedom within your body and mind.

After a few awkward and chubby teenage years I was introduced to yoga and instantly knew that I had found a source of great power. I have trained seriously as a physically practicing yogi for the last 18 years and intend never to stop. And luckily, if you practice regularly, you never have to. My own teacher, who has always been one of my heroes, is now in his late 60's. In fact, lots of my yogic icons practiced well into old age.

Hand in hand with a yoga practice comes a meditative one. So as my physical practice progressed I found that so must my meditation. I have since practiced many forms of meditation and have also discovered ways of incorporating my physical practices into the head space of a meditation."

MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION

With Jessica Ashby...

Jessica is an Aerial, Pilates and Wellness Master Trainer and an Aerial and Skating Performer.  She is also the Co-Director and Founder of Cloud9 Wellness Hub.  Jessica believes that every action can be done mindfully and applies this to all of her teachings.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Jessica has devised a workshop aimed to help you tune into your senses and be fully present with your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual self.  She describes her sessions as, "Giving yourself a gift of space and time to be fully present with yourself, however you are.  Mindfulness is a journey of acceptance, passing no judgement and really listening."  Expect movement, stillness and discussions with yourself and others.

Jessica's journey of wellness

Her training background is vast, but it is all united with one common theme, that of wellness.

Her training started at the tender age of eight years old where she trained, competed and performed across the country as a figure skater.  Learning the art of physical and mental discipline and the interconnecting importance of wellness in order to strive.  She was introduced to Pilates, meditation, visualisation and goal setting as part of her off ice-training in order to keep her body and mind well.

As an adult, Jessica spent four years training, teaching and performing with Aircraft Circus - where she graduated and then went on to teach on their Full Time Foundation Course in Circus Arts and perform with them in a number of shows.  She also travelled, performed and taught with them on their circus exchange programmes across Europe.

Her love of teaching blossomed when she completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the Central School of Speech & Drama, going on to teach at a North London Secondary School.  She describes her love of teaching as, "The beauty of being a qualified teacher is you can share your passions with others in a way that reaches everybody."

Jessica graduated as a Museum of Happiness Facilitator, where she uses what she learnt and experienced to enhance happiness techniques into her practice and teachings.

Jessica has always been spiritual, believing in the power of the mind and a universal force that connects us all.  Since her childhood her family spent time with members of the Hare Krishna Movement, where she learnt about meditation from a young age.  And more recently the Brahma Kumaris movement, where she has expanded her practice of meditation and mindfulness.

Inspired by her late father Jonathan Ashby she continues to find ways to expand the mind, body and spirit for the highest and greatest good.

SOUND BATH

With Rachael Welford...

Rachael is the founder of Welford Wellbeing, an inspirational speaker and holistic therapist who has an infectious energy.  Sincere, not serious; she believes in rising together and enjoying life.  She is on a mission to empower people to take control of their mental, emotional and spiritual health so they can live life on their terms and access their full potential.

Sound bath

Rachael holds space with the intention of helping you release old patterns and beliefs, relieve emotional and physical pain to create a deep feeling of calm and balance, whilst raising your vibes to connect you to your true self.  Using Reiki energy as well as sound frequencies, we'll be working with all three layers of the mind as well as your physical and energy body.

Gong can often release stuck emotions, old memories and anything else that is ready to be brought to the surface for healing so you'll learn a 'heartmath' breathing technique that can be useful throughout the meditation.   Once ready, you'll lie down to be enveloped in an hour long sound bath using Gong, Tibetan bowls, koshi bells and voice. Rachael guides you in to the deep gong journey with meditation and guides you out with chanting, allowing your body, mind and soul to be prepared and guided through each step.

There will be space for sharing and Q&A about your experience afterwards, should you wish to share, although this is not compulsory.

Rachel Welford

Rachael teaches with passion and knowledge gained directly from personal experience of burn out, depression, anxiety and panic attacks.  Having had a breakdown following years of unhealthy coping mechanisms, she decided to face her issues and change her life. Through this process, as well as extensive training, she has established solid practises that enabled her to not only rebuild her life but launch a business helping others thrive in the same conditions.  This warrants a unique perspective which is delivered in an authentic way. Often acting as the bridge between spirituality and science, magic and the mainstream Rachael creates an inclusive place of self-discovery, inviting people to join her on a journey to master their mental health and overall wellbeing.

The way Rachael holds space for these meditative healing journeys, is a mix of energy and sound medicine for your mind, body, and soul.
